EWG safety scale, pH balance, and dermatological test results — the same discipline in every formula. No ingredient can enter our catalog without evidence.

Respect for nature
Reef-safe, cruelty-free, vegan.
Coral reefs, groundwater, animal rights — these are the final tests to pass to make it into the catalog. Every product we sell goes through these three filters.

Luishe Tokyo Prohibitions
These ingredients are not present in any Luishe Tokyo series or product. Our formulations have varying ingredient restrictions based on our series — for example, our Lotus series is free from hundreds of thousands of triggers known to feed Malassezia, which is considered responsible for fungal acne.

EU Cosmetics Regulation
The European Union's cosmetics regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009) contains provisions regarding prohibited or restricted substances in cosmetic products. The EU frequently updates these regulations in an effort to enhance safety standards in cosmetics.
Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben — are preservatives frequently used in cosmetics, but their use has been restricted due to their endocrine-disrupting effects.
DEHP, DBP, BBP — used in products such as nail polish and perfume. Banned due to their endocrine-disrupting properties.
Formaldehyde, Methylene glycol — carcinogenic effects; restricted use.
Benzophenone-3 (Oxybenzone) and Octinoxate — used in sunscreens, but can cause skin irritation, hormonal imbalance, and affect coral reefs. Their ban is being considered.
P-Phenylenediamine, Toluene-2,5-Diamine, Resorcinol, Lead acetate — used in hair dyes; can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, or neurotoxic effects.
Mercury, Arsenic, Cadmium, Asbestos — have carcinogenic and toxic effects; not used in cosmetics or are subject to very strict regulations.
Toluene, Methanol — used as solvents; can be harmful through skin and respiratory exposure; restricted due to neurotoxic effects.
Triclosan — can cause irritation, although it has an antimicrobial effect.
Hydroquinone — used in skin lighteners, has carcinogenic properties.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) — can cause skin dryness and irritation.
Phenoxyethanol — used as a preservative, can cause skin irritation.
Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) — used as an antioxidant, can cause irritation.
Benzalkonium Chloride — used in antibacterial products, excessive use is harmful.
Chlorphenesin — has an antimicrobial effect, can lead to allergic reactions.
Tetracycline — prohibited due to carcinogenic and toxic effects.
