Salicylic acid, the most common representative of the BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) group, has a different mechanism of action than AHAs due to its oil-soluble structure. It can penetrate beyond the skin's surface and into the pores; this feature makes it an effective active ingredient for acne, blackheads, and pore blockages.
